Subject:         Convincing skeptical husbands to try the diet
Date: April 19, 2006 at 12:03 pm PST

I bought the book "Disease-proof your child" and I think it could really help my family. As mentioned in my other post, my 10 yo dd has lots of food intolerance issues. My 5 yo has frequent stomachaches and I suspect he has some of the same problems. My 2 yo has rashes and very dry skin and I suspect food problems with her too. My other two kids seem OK so far... My husband has high cholesterol and his parents have tons of health problems (thyroid, dialysis, diabetes, non-hodkin's lymphoma etc.)

My husband doesn't see anything wrong with eating treats every day (snacking on them all day long.) He loves all high fat foods. So how do you convince your husband to eat this diet? He thinks I'm way too restrictive on our diet and all I do is try to limit the amount of sugar and fats we eat and I'm not even that good at doing that. He also will not try anything he thinks might be health food. He won't even taste my daughter's gluten free breads (and those aren't even really that healthy.) When he was trying to lower his cholesterol, he did up his intake of raw nuts and try harder to limit his fat intake. This did help some, but I don't think he limited it enough. I know for it to be effective, you have to have the whole family go on it.

He really is a great dh, we just have different ideas on how we should eat. And I probably use him as an excuse not to eat better myself. Any good tips?
