Thanks so much for your understanding!

I'm doing pretty much the same thing you mentioned -- all raw (usually) throughout the day, then some lightly cooked veggies and/or starch at night. Occasionally I will have some hummus with veggies or cooked soup at lunchtime, but I find that eating too much cooked food exhausts me for the rest of the day.

I'm amazed that we seem to be having the same kind of symptoms and struggles. The biggest thing I have noticed (aside from mucous -- eww) is fatigue. I feel like I just can't get enough sleep. I used to jump out of bed in the morning and head out the door, but now I find myself groggy and never well-rested upon waking.

I have also noticed a HUGE change in my workouts. I am a triathlete, and just a few months ago, when I was well into raw, I was seeing big improvements in my performance. I felt full of energy and could work out morning, noon, or night and felt energized. Lately, though, even a short, easy run is much more difficult.

I feel like I'm conducting my own nutritional experiments on my body, and, though it's gratifying in a way to discover what works for myself, I often wish that I could find THE way, as in the biologically appropriate way of eating that fits all humans. If such a thing exists! If only it were so easy!

I sympathize with you on many levels, as I too struggle with the social impacts of having a "weird" diet and a non-raw spouse. I think part of the difficulty for me is not having a real (as in not virtual) community of support. Perhaps if I lived in a place where there were raw restaurants and if I knew other raw foodists it would be easier to maintain. But then again, there's always the mental aspect of trying to gain control through an overly restrictive diet. I suppose what I'm saying, in a very longwinded fashion (sorry!), is that, though this process is difficult, I'm sure it is worthwhile and it's very comforting to know that others are having the same experiences.

I recall you saying that you were eating lentils with your greens. I have been searching for legumes that I can digest, but haven't tried lentils yet. Are you eating them cooked are sprouted? Are you having any problems with them, or do you think they are easier to deal with than beans?
