Hi Chumly--
Well we struggle with the exact same issues, for sure. Glad to hear you've pieced together five days on the program. That's a big deal after a binge!!
I had my two-week binge described previously. Then, I was back on track for about a week, only to go on another 4-week binge. I pretty much undid months of progress on Dr. F's program and am heavier than when I started!!
I'm in my first week back on the program, because I do love it so much and want it to be the way I eat for life. But, I'm still struggling with those dreaded cravings and food temptations.
With these binges, I pretty much understood for the first time why it's called "food addition." The lack of control is not unlike an alcoholic's drinking spree, as you've shared.
Anyway, I was feeling pretty sad and guilty for these binges, sad to undo such great progress. This has made it hard to get back on track.
Three things I'm doing right though: 1) keeping my workout schedule and working out hard; 2) eating lots of veggies and fruit still--but not as much as Dr. F prescribes, and 3) NOT eating meat.
I've also examined and know what's behind the binges, because I am an emotional/stress eater. My boyfriend of 4 years and I broke up, and I'm leaving my temp assignment of 2 years without another assignment lined up. Unfortunately, knowing does not always translate into immediate action in my case!
Thanks for asking though and good luck in staying on track!
