Thank you for your response and very good advice. You made me realize that I have done this before and can do it again. I was a vegetarian for almost two years straight (and a vegan on and off over those two years) until recently. I ate some chicken wings for lunch one day and that was it...I was back. It's simple: I am addicted to fattening foods. The more I eat and feed my addiction, the stronger it gets. I know it sounds so cliche, but it's true.
When I was eating better, I craved healthier foods. If I just stayed away from that chicken, I would have been okay. It is much more difficult for me to resume my good eating habits now that I fed my old addition. Know what I mean?
But I love your advice. Yes,I can do some exercise now. I can decide to have a bowl of oatmeal with no salt or sugar, I can have some split pea soup for lunch (love it) with a little less salt than usual (it's really bland with no salt), and some raw carrots. I used to bring that very dish (with the raw carrots) to work with me every day two years ago. I lose 43 pounds in 3 months.
I can have a small salad with cucumbers, sprouts, spinach leaves, and some romaine lettuce. I can do that.
To answer your questions, yes, I did minimize my sodium instake, I did eat more fruit...I think I just became obsessed with eating salads all day long (one of my least favorite raw foods). But I feel much better now.
Anyway, the wife is home. I may write more later...or e-mail you. Thanks again for your post. It's more helpful than you can imagine.
Jeff
