What I meant to put in there is that you need to be looser with the definition of "salad." In the 6-week plan summary in the book, Dr. Fuhrman says to aim at one pound of "raw vegetables" and one pound of cooked greens.
I don't see a requirement to eat raw greens at all in that.

Besides...carrots weigh a lot more than romaine. My pound of raw carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and sugar snap peas fit in the smaller size ziplock bag.

I have to say, since I keep carping on the salad issue, I'm loving meeting the fruit minimum! Why wasn't I eating this much fruit before? How could I forget about it?
