I use pre-ground flax seeds for the convenience, but my wife buys the seeds and grinds them because it's better to have fresh-ground- less rancidity. But I keep it in the fridge.
The ideal is to use fresh-ground- you can get a small coffee grinder- just takes a minute to grind. But, I don't like to run the grinder in the morning because the noise might wake my wife, so I just buy the ground flax seeds and keep them in the fridge.
