I have been there numerous times on other plans, so I can understand! Sometimes a sugar binge feels so out of control like there is no stopping it. Have faith though--you will experience a U Turn.
1) Try to feel better about this and look at it as a life lesson. What triggered it? (Holiday cheer) What could you have done differently?
2) Stop making yourself crazy and being mean to yourself. you still have maintained some of your weight loss, haven't you. You still had all those good weeks of eating healthy haven't you?
3) Pick a date within the week to start over and gear yourself for it. Buy all the good groceries you need etc.
4) With my sugar binges if I can just get back on track for 2 days in a row (i.e not eat sugar!) the binge looses its steam. As yourself for a 2-3 day healthy days respite and see if that can steamroller into success again.
5) Be sure you are eating the quantities of food Dr. F recommends and not trying to skimp on the program by trimming it further--I have found when I eat the large quantities of veggies (1 lb raw, 1 lb steamed) and fruits (4+) the cravings do get killed. Be sure to not skimp on that fruit, which gives your body that sugar!
6) Treat yourself to 3-3 big tablespoons of natural peanut butter every morning with breakfast (I have it with 2 bananas or apples). PB feels like an indulgence and fills you up like nothing else. There is room for this on Dr. F's plan. Or, every time you feel like your going to binge on sugar, help yourself to a big spoonful of PB. You may end up eating a bit more nuts/PB than Dr. F recommends, but it's satisfying and better for you than sugar. It just may help you...it helps me.
7) If you find yourself still in the grips of your sugar binge try shoot for some healthy days mixed between the binge days. You may have 2-3 bad binge days and then 2-3 healthy days. That's better than a full binge week. Keep taking steps to make the healthy track record longer and longer and before you know it, you'll hopefully be on track.
8) Lastly, I know what it's like to binge. Get all that chocolate, cake and other junk out of your house--frige, freezer, cabinets, drawers now. Force yourself to have to buy stuff on the spot for your binge rather than facilitating it at home.
Whew...lots here. Know there is hope and again, you will find a U Turn back to the plan! Best of luck, Robin
