I never ate salads before...I mean never. I hated them! I don't think it was the salad itself I hated, but the oil, vinegar, and dressing on top that sent me running for the hills. I hate conidments and dressings and all that nasty stuff. When I see salads drenched in creamy blue cheese dressing, the smell alone can make me gag. After reading half of E2L, I decided I need to give salads a shot. I make it the way I want it: romaine lettue, spinach, sprouts, garbanzo beans, cucumbers, red onion, bell peppers, etc. I don't like tomatoes raw (only cooked), so I leave it out. I hate dressing, so I squeeze half an orange over the salad, then cut the other half up and toss the pieces with the salad. It's not great, but it's not bad either. I've really felt good the last few days though. My energy levels have increased and I feel very alert. When I was eating starch-centered meals on McDougall's program, I felt sluggish. Today I had a hute salad and a small amount of potatoes and brocolli, versus normally eating mostly potatoes and a small amount of veggies. I was so full from the salad that I only ate half of the potatoes and tossed the rest. I like the last analogy. I think you need to push yourself to eat the salad at first. It may not be the tastiest dish in the world, but it's excellent for your health and you feel terrific after eating it. Good luck! Jeff
