Thanks for that post, Snickers. Nice insight. It all makes sense. I work in an office and I don't get much exercise other than some light weight lifting 3 days a week and cardio 30 mins of 3-4 days. I don't need platefuls of potatoes and corn and rice. In fact, it wasn't until I began reading Dr. Fuhrman's E2L that I realized how important raw vegetables and fruit was for us. I'm not about to become a raw foodist, but I do want to add more raw fruits and vegetables to my diet.

Today for example, I am bringing a huge salad to work and a small leftover of diced potatoes with brocolli. In the past, with the McDougall mindset, I would bring in a huge bowl of whipped potatoes, and maybe a small container of spinach. Perhaps no leafy veggies at all. Just the potatoes and a soup or something.

I'm still going to eat my whole wheat tortillas, corn, rice, and potatoes. Just not in the amounts I was when I was following the McDougall program.
