If you don't always follow Dr Fuhrman's optimal nutrition vegetable based diet to the letter, you should take a multi containing no Vitamin A or Beta Carotin (leeches calcium and is linked with increased cancer risk). However, if you are strict vegetarian, you must always supplement with B-12 regardless of how good you diet is. I take two of Dr Fuhrman's "Gentle care" multis each day (for insurance) along with 100-200 mg vegan DHA (for my mental health) and a kelp tablet (for iodine - I don't eat iodized salt or seaweed). Also, I take a 1000 mg B-12 tablet several times per week (this is overkill, but I've heard that excess B-12 is not harmful and is simply lost in the urine.) Read the book. When it comes to optimal nutrition, Dr Fuhrman is THE MAN!
