| | Subject: | Flax seeds, flax oil, and cancer studies....hold the flax? | |

I've read so many great things about flax (the whole seed ground up, of which I have a tablespoon everyday), but recently found an article that made me a bit nervous: http://www.webmd.com/content/pages/3/3079_1820.htm?lastselectedguid={5FE84E90-BC77-4056-A91C-9531713CA348} Apparently there are epidemiology studies out there that contradict all the good things I've read about flax seeds being good for you....I've known there have been studies showing flax oil and potential problems, but this is the first time I've seen anything flax, oil or seeds, being lumped in as maybe not being so good for our health(especially if one has a prostate!).
In Dr. Fuhrman's book(pp130-131), he recommends ground flaxseed as a source of Omega 3's (1 ground tablespoon) over flaxseed oil. One thing I won't follow is using any kind of fish oil or fish for that matter(I'm vegan). Thanks so much for the input,
Steve
