I, too am so sorry about your loss, and wish you well during this difficult period.
I think the ideas from Robin K and Rocket Scientist are wonderful; I agree totally.
I can identify with you about the depression part. I almost always used to overeat in response to stress and difficult situations, but in 1985 I suffered a severe depression in response to some life events, and just totally lost my appetite. I was in my early 30s at the time, am in my early 50s now.
I'm about to celebrate my first anniversary of Fuhrman-ing, after more than 6 years of eating a diet adapted from Dr. Ornish's-- with no dairy or eggs, only whole grains, and no refined carbs.

I love ETLing now, and have a few recipe suggestions. I really love a salad dressing invented by a friend of mine, based on a Fuhrman recipe. It uses citrus, which I think you like!!
1 red grapefruit
1 of your favorite kind of oranges
handful of raw, unsalted cashews (one ounce, or more)
1 tsp of Dr. Fuhrman's spicy pecan vinegar
Blend in blender or Vita-Mix.
This way you could enjoy your citrus in a way that would get the nutritious greens and raw veggies into you, too.

I sought counseling for my depression, which was wonderfully helpful, but continued to need taking antidepressant medication for almost 20 years. I'd feel just fine, but every time I tried going off of the medication I would feel miserable.
I credit Dr. Fuhrman's program with successfully getting me OFF of the medication. I'm talking recently.
My doctor put me on a schedule of reduced dosage in Sept. 05, even lower dosage in Oct, and still lower in November. So, just this month am I completely off of the meds.

To me it sounds a lot more likely that you are suffering from a situational depression, that will likely resolve as time exerts its healing power.
So many good wishes to you; I hope that things will become easier and easier as time passes.
