I had weight to lose AND was coming from McDougall (who supports no added fat at all), so was pretty fat phobic. But I've done some reading, and have conquered most of that.
I read that a body's ability to absorb nutrients is increased an impressive amount (I've forgotten the percentage, but it was noteworthy...and I don't know about you, but I don't want to be downing full heads of romaine and cheat myself on the nutritional benefits!) when there is a little added fat.
We need some fat, and 1 tbs of ground flax adds only 4 grams of valuable Omega 3-rich fat.
I don't have Dr. F's book right in front of me, but was reading, "Breaking the Food Seduction" yesterday and it mentions getting 3%-4% of our calories from fat.
You might want to do more research so that your decisions may be based on sound nutritional science, not phobias or emotionalism.
Best of luck!
P.S. and like Susan said, don't forget that the target is 1 lb of raw and 1 lb of cooked veggies, & minimum 4 fruits. I consider 527 mg of sodium waaaaaay too much.
