I got my cholesterol down from 491 to 169 by taking Niacin (Vitamin B3). Then I bought the Eat To Live book (which, by the way, I think is fantastic!) - it just doesn't work for me :-(

I quit the Niacin, went full vegan, pure fruit and vegetable, and exercised over 10 hours per week.

My cholesterol went from 169 to 399. My HDL is 78, which is great (and probably the only reason I'm still alive), but clearly diet and exercise just aren't enough for people with familial hypercholesterolemia.
