Angela-

Someone else will likely respond and give you the "whys." Sometimes one has to adapt a program a bit to fit their lifestyle. I, myself, exercise a lot and am a lifelong snacker, so I've maintained snacks within the allowable food. I save 2 of my 4 fruits for snacks (morning and afternoon) and sometimes eat the 1 oz of nuts right before I exercise. Sometimes I'll have raw veggies as a snack in addition to the salad. It's the same program with the same food and quantities and same results. I just tweaked the division a bit to allow for snacks. My point is, if you need to snack a bit "on allowed foods" to keep you in the program, do it!
