Dr. Fuhrman lumps a baked potato and whole grains in as one category. In the 6-week plan, he suggests limiting the portion to one a day. I've eaten baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, whole grain cereal, a whole wheat english muffin, a whole wheat pita bread and a whole wheat tortilla as the one potato/grain. I need to eat one every day because I am active. If you are trying to lose a lot of weight and not active, Dr. Fuhrman suggests not even eating one of these if you can do it. However, do not skimp on eating a grain/potato if you need it and it will keep you in the plan.
