Thank you all for enjoyable information on the ancient tradition of burning Bayberry candles for good luck. My aunt was the one who lit the candle - always on New Years's Eve. I have been unable to find one in the Montreal area, if anyone can let me know of a source in the next few days I would be very grateful - have not burned one for years and am in need of a change of luck.
