Our tradition is to burn the candle on Christmas Eve and if it burns clean,(down to the socket)you will have good luck for the year ahead. I found real bayberry candles in Odessa Delaware at the gift shop for the historic homes of Odessa. As I have known it this only works with real bayberry candles.
