I have fruit flys at my place right now. I tell you I have found the answer to getting rid of them, but it takes a few days. You need some red-wine vinegar and a few pop bottles. Pour a bit of the vinegar into the pop bottles, enough to cover the bottom of the bottle about a half an inch deep, then make a cone out of paper with a very tiny pinhole opening at the bottom and an opening at the top about the size of a silver dollar. Stuick the tiny end into the bottle conatining the vinegar, then tape the cone top the bottle so there is no opening around the top of the bottle. Leave the top of the cone open. Set these bottles in any room you have notice fruit flys in and you will be amazed at how many you can catch in just a few hours. Keep repeating the process until the flys are gone. It should only take a couple of days or so.
