hi there,
I'm getting the word out that beginning June 1st for our one year anniversary Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, OR will begin selling a vegan organic doughnut. Our flavors will be banana and chocolate most likely (I'm going to be developing recipes until the day we debut it.) From my own perspective as a vegan these are amazing, moist and beautiful. Currently all but one ingredient is organic bought from the local food co-op. The recipe is hand developed and the doughnuts are made from scratch. the price is most likely going to be $1.50 a piece, due to the cost of organic ingredients. But, if you purchase a dozen the price drops on down to around $10 I believe. Prices are subject to change as we truly figure out how much the ingredients run us. But yes, portlanders, come down and support the vegan doughnut, if it doesn't sell it's not going to stay around most likely. Also, secret tip is that if you come in this week in the mornings I may sell you from the test batches, Tuesday through Friday (no gaurentee because I may mess up an idea...:) So yeah, come on down to Voodoo Doughnuts, where the magic is in the hole.

one more thing, currently we are frying the doughnuts in the same oil as the non-vegan ones until a seperate fryer can be afforded. those doughnuts contain powdered egg whites and milk powder, but not large quantities if youa re worried. The oil is 100% vegetable.
