Huh? This article in the Diabetes Care journal, link below, has a study from Australia that there was no difference in HbA1C readings between the type 2 diabetics who did self-monitor and those that didn't. They had a large group and studies them over five years. Omigosh. What are we to make of that? It seems to be a study aimed at permitting the government to withdraw monetary support for BG testing. I'm stunned. Early & often testing helps me make sure I'm doing OK. Is there a different conclusion to be reached? Am I misinterpreting? Perhaps the difference is in the motivation that the numbers provide for us. If I test and respond to the numbers, am I not going to have a better outcome? The study is related to testing alone. I don't know what to think on this one.
