A kinda vague diagnosis (because they don't always confirm the presence of cysts in the ovary-there is,I think, no lab test or numerical criteria for this), in my opinion, given to women who have irregular or long menstrual cycles, who are plump or obese, those who carry their weight in the belly/waist, those with excessive hair growth on face, etc., can adversely impact fertility (have trouble getting pregnant when they want to), and it's treated as if they had diabetes, often with oral hypoglycemic agents (pills).
