Actually, Scripture makes it clear that quite the opposite is the case. We may eat what we choose and what one does or does not eat is a non-issue as far as our salvation is concerned. We are permitted to eat meat (though I highly suspect that if Jesus were walking the Earth today, He would greatly disapprove of modern factory farming), but we are certainly not required to. I work with a very orthodox Catholic street ministry in inner-city DC. At this point, we have a core group of 12 street outreach counselors - and 3 of us are vegan. That's 25% of a group of highly orthodox Catholics!
