I've been reading the old posts here for a couple of days. I'm surprised that there isn't more interest in this board, as Buddhism and vegetarianism go pretty well together. I've read some about Buddhism and even visited churches over the years. I've found nothing not to like. My wife and I have found ourselves searching more for truth than a religion. We've found a lot of interesting stuff in the Edgar Cayce material and we've found some surprises with the Gnostic Christian traditions. Before the orthodox Christian church decided what was "true" and what was heresy, Gnostic Christians believed in reincarnation as opposed to rapture, a Jesus that was to be emulated, not worshipped, and what sounded like a definition of karma. In fact, it was observed that "Buddha" could have been substituted for "Jesus" in the writings. Cayce was a modern day prophet who, even as a devout Christian, brought much to light about ancient history and the future that supports both Buddhism and Gnostic Christianity. I used to feel sorry for atheists who are, by and large, nice people. As a Christian, I knew that these people were condemned. Now my heart is uplifted to know that they are closer to heaven than many of the "Chtistians" I have known. Truth is liberating. Bill
