The Internet is a wonderful place to learn about Buddhism. Just Google "Buddhism 101" and you'll find lots of websites offering the basics. One that I'd recommend is OCRT, which comes from a respected religious tolerance website. One of the best introductory books is What the Buddha Taught by Walpola Rahula. Buddhism is about finding relief from suffering. The Buddha was a prince who was raised in luxury. When he discovered that those around him suffered, he set out to find an end to suffering. What he discovered was the Four Noble Truths: (1) There is suffering. (2) Suffering has a cause, which is grasping or desire. (3) It is possible to put an end to suffering. (4) The end of suffering is achieved by following the Noble Eightfold Path. Everything else in Buddhism is based on that. Keith
