I thought her speech was a little too much into the here and now today by being simplified and applied by the speaker to daily living. It was based on the dharma, but it seemed to be a little watered down to appeal to popular culture, and even though I like examples, I like the direct teaching as is without interpretation. They had lots of books, tapes of the lecture, and other stuff for sale so I got this commercialization gut feeling about it and more of a self help approach. Kinda of like when you take yoga in a health club type of idea. That its more adapted to the audience rather than the original teachings. In general I liked the people, but it was a larger group than I normally like. So I'm going to continue to look at other places and maybe I'll find a place that really seems to fit. But I think I need to go one other time probably in order to really develop a decent and accurate view of it. The center I have been going to is very traditional. I just feel that some of the people there interprete the meanings to fit them, thats all. And I feel uncomfortable in social situations since there really aren't any vegetarians there and they also serve alcohol. But I'm kinda discombobulated tonight. My bunny isn't feeling well! So tonight isn't a good night for having a clear mind and making any decisions.
