Interesting insights on relationships! I agree with you about lotus position not being require for meditation. However, there is one requirement for one's posture: the back must be straight. I'm not sure exactly why; the traditional explanation has to do with unblocking the energy channels. I have to admit, I have a hard time accepting that. But I do know from experience that, if the back is not straight, it is impossible to meditate. So, lotus posture (or half-lotus) is good. A Japanese-style kneeling bench is good. A kitchen chair is good. But a soft easy chair would be bad, and sitting on the floor without a cushion or other support would be bad, because in both cases, the back is bent. I have found that a kneeling bench is the best for me. It elevates my hips, so that I can straighten my back, and it keeps my knees open enough to not cut off circulation, but without the painful twist of the lotus position. Keith
