Subject:         Baby crawling up to mother's breast.....

I'm due in September with my second baby. Breast fed my first girl to about 2.5 years but it was the biggest night mare ever!!!!!! Now about 3 years later, I want to do everything to have a different experience this time. I've read (from the internet) that if baby's are put skin to skin on the mother's abdomen right after birth and the babies hands are not washed or dried at all, then the baby will crawl up to the mother's breast and latch himself right on with no help from anyone. I read this can help prevent latch on as well as other problems later on.
I'm totally intrigued by this and want to give it a try.

My questions are: How can I get more information about this? Any video documentation of this that I could watch and maybe show my midwife? Also, any idea on how I can work with the hospital to make this happen?

By the way, Hi Jennifer Tow! I don't know if you remember me from about 4-5 years ago. I live in Salt Lake and you referred Susan Johnson IBCLC to me when I was having so many difficulties breast feeding my daughter. We never really did figure out the problem, but it's interesting that even to this day she has "feeding/eating" issues that continue to be a nightmare!!! It's her personality, I believe. She's Ok, but she is a challenge! Well, I just want to do everything different with this next baby.
Thanks!
