I sincerely empathize with you. I first started with a ruptured disc which resulted in severe sciata. However, I do not have small children and nursing too? I am so sorry. I did not want to take any medicines but my blood pressure went sky high from the pain and I am going to the nuerosurgeon this Friday to find out my options. I did use a chiropractor at first for about 6 weeks which seemed to help, but now I am questioning if it actually increased the problem when it was all "said and done". I am now on narcotics which have greatly decreased my pain and lowered my blood pressure. I don't like the way they make my feel, but given the pain or the effect of the medicine, I have to choose the medicine at this point. It may be that you have to make a decision too about nursing. Perhaps there is somehting "light" that you could time just right where it wouldn't be so heavy in your milk. I know when I was nursing the OB Dr. said it was ok to take the pain medication as long as I didn't do it for an extended period of time. Good luck!!!
