OK, you didn't even bother to say how this was all explained in the movie; the fact that Grandama death was a professor at the same school Donnie went to. This may be a reason he was chosen, but anyway, she was the one who wrote the book "Philosophy of Time Travel". It would be interesting to know more about her and why she wrote it. Maybe a prequel to if she had a similar experience.

I also wonder, why did Grandma death continue to go to the mailbox repeatedly?
