okay, If by waking up Donnie created this Tangen Universe and there for the end of the world, why didn't Frank just let him die.

How come Frank remembers what happens at the end, trying to warn Donnie about the engine, and touching his eye but no one else remembers anything, like Gretchen, she didn't remember ever meeting Donnie.
