when the engine killed donnie in the end, it wasn't in a tangent universe anymore.he had returned the engine to the primary universe by convincing his mom to take his sister to the competition thing. on the way home, the plane flew over the house and the engine got shat off the plane somehow and fell into donnie's room killing him.
