Hi everyone, I have just starting eating vegetarian in October of 2012 and I am now trying vegan for the month of January. I have read a lot on both diets but have received mixed information on the subject of protein and b-12. I watched a video put out by the veg society of Hawaii that stated women only need about 38 grams of protein a day and men 47. Other sources say you need to determine it through your body weight. When I did that it had me consuming 61 grams of protein a day and my husband was over 90. Some people say you do not need to worry about the amounts just eating a plant based diet that is varied will help you reach all of your nutritional needs. Some people say you need to supplement with b-12 and others say you do not. Then there is the question of how much of b-12 which can also vary. Any thoughts? Thanks, Donna
