Yes, I mean the skinned ones, but slivered-- cut into small pieces, but longish ones. You could skin them yourself. (Blanche them by pouring boiling water over them in a pot and setting it aside for three minutes. Drain off the water and slip the skins off by squeezing the almonds between your thumb and fingers.) But then you need to cut them into pieces to measure out the right amount because whole almonds take up more space in the measuring cup than chopped or slivered ones, so you won't get the same amount. Blanched slivered almonds are easy to find and not expensive, in bulk bins at supermarkets and health food stores.
