i've been flirting with vegetarian/veganism for a few years, and my body is more and more telling me that is the way to go. i had gained a fair amount of weight while being carnivorous and finally realized it was the protein making me gain weight. any sort of fat doesn't seem to have this effect. so i cut way back on the animal protein and lost almost all the weight i had gained.

the first time i cut out the meat i got pretty ill, assumed it was an ulcer since it felt and matched the symptoms exactly, but it never really went away. then about a year later the same symptoms happened again but this time i had been on the master cleanse for just 1 day and had a kidney stone attack. i needed morphine and went to the hospital.

same thing happened again about 9 months ago when i went off the animal protein but also i had double jeopardy with bronchitis and kidney stones at the same time. i passed the stone no problem but never really recovered my energy after that episode.

my weight is very stable when i restrict the animal protein, but if i go for any length of time down this road i can feel all the stone symptoms come up and i think i will get some sort of other sickness as well.

i can see this as a cleansing reaction from all the years of meat eating, but it is also a very serious medical issue.

as time goes on my body is rejecting the animal protein more and more so it looks like at some point i will have no choice but to go through this process.
