I think that it is an over-used and incorrectly-used
modern term. Carbohydrates can be highly-refined or
they can be complex (containing many nutrients and
fiber). You can't lump them all together.
I would recommend reading some of the information from
Dr. John A. McDougall, whose high (complex)-
carbohydrate program has helped many people lose
