Boy do I sympathize with you!!! I was vegan for quite some time, when my Dad went to live with my oldest sister and her husband. Her family are not only avid carnivors, but they are also hunters and people who raise poor animals for consumption. Because we wanted to spend time with Dad, we would have to go and spend a weekend at their house (120 miles away from us) and each time it was heck. Her husband especially would give me a hard time about not consuming animal protein and family get- togethers were all centered around it. After dealing with all the negative attitude for over a year, I finally broke down and joined them because I couldn't deal with it.

In the final days of my Dad's life, he told me that maybe it wasn't right to do what we do to animals--and he was right. Now that he is no longer with us, I have gone back to eating mostly vegetarian and vegan meals again (mostly beans, brown rice, fresh veggies and fruit), but I occasionally slip up. The good thing is that my husband--an avid meat eater--is now eating more foods like me and very little meat. So, keep your chin up! There is always hope!!
