Hi Bryanna,

Hope you are doing well.

I wanted to ask you about some of the key ingredients to get that special 'umami' flavor in food. When we used to eat non veg, we used to get those flavors from meats, cheese, etc. But now as we are vegetarians, I was wondering what all can we use. I have tried some foods like mushrooms, nutritional yeast, veg chicken powder, marmite and they are pretty good. What other foods, vegetables, have Umami flavor? Do you also have couple of good recipes for stocks with strong Umami flavors (like asian soup stock, italian soup stocks, etc)?

Thanks
Ashu

PS: I wish I knew in advance about the Seattle veg fest, I would have loved to come. Now we have already made up plans to go to Whistler, this weekend. Are there any more similar events in and around the region? I don't even mind driving 4-5 hours from Vancouver to get there.
