Dear Kyanna,

I can't discern from a post if you have an eating disorder, but YOU have that question. It would be a good idea to explore that with somebody qualified and compassionate.
As for trouble with being unable to completely eliminate animal products, you are not the only one who experiences glitches and slips even in the midst of commitment.
I struggle also with this mindset. The guilt is good as a motivator but not as self-punishment. Overall, we are doing a good thing by eating veg most of the time. We are not perfect. I am struggling now with how to eat according to my conscience even when I'm acutely hurting. (I eat "wrong" to comfort myself, too.) Right now I'm identifying vegan foods that feel like comfort to me. My plan is to keep them available at all times, so I don't have to add guilt to hurt feelings. (I eat "wrong" when I'm hurt, which is unfortunately often.) I would like to stop self-medicating with food but will compromise for now by eating food that doesn't hurt me or animals. This is the closest I've come to conquering this negative pattern, ever. Bryanna Grogan suggested that I read "Living Among Meat Eaters" by Carol J. Adams. I ordered the book and feel empowered now to defend myself against the onslaughts of unsupportive others, as well as my own conflicts.
You are doing a good thing, Kyanna, even when you do it imperfectly. Just keep trying and remind yourself of your successes. Look! They are many!
