I am the only straight vegetarian in my whole immediate family--yet even with this circumstance, I have learned early on, to not judge and/or hold any sort of negative opinions against carnivores; it seems that whatever people may place into their mouths, is their own personal business....

I am also the only veg in my family. I have found out that the more I try to persuade people to give up meat, the more they try to persuade me to eat it! The only way for me to continue successfully as a vegetarian is to overlook what others eat and concentrate on my own diet. I now know that example is better than words to make people aware of their choices. Some have even started to imitate me without coming right out and saying it. Some of my family members are eating more salads and fruit, and cutting out red meat and fatty foods. They see how healthy I am, and how I have a lot of energy, and never take drugs or have to go to the doctor, and it is starting to sink in that maybe the key is my diet. But I have to prepare meat for my family to eat, and prepare something else for myself, because that is the only way to keep the peace. My support group is online on boards like this. Glad to meet you, fellow vegetarians!
