Don't be too hard on yourself. Non-vegan foods abound to the extent that it is nearly impossible to eat at all unless you cook for yourself.

I think the best antidote to being tempted is to make treats for yourself at home. Make a batch of gooey brownies, for example, sometimes I make a batch and eat the whole thing. Or a creamy, rich peanut butter-chocolate or chocolate pie. There are really good recipes for these in Bryanna Grogan's book Soyfoods for a Positive Menopause -- the chocolate pie recipe in there is so rich and decadent.

Animal foods do taste good, but so do lots of veg foods, it's more an issue of availability. And if you slip up and eat something once in a while, for heaven's sake don't browbeat yourself, we all do it and have done it and will most likely do it again in the future. But we do the best we can and what we do must make at least some difference.

Next time you're at the natural foods store, pick up some organic vegan chocolate bars, or cookies, or something new and different to you that you've never tried before, have these on hand for those times when you're tempted.
