I'm pretty new at being vegan too...but for me it's just a logical step. I don't like meat nearly as much as I like veggie stuff, and the animals suffer horribly. So really, why WAS I eating meat before? Who knows...
Anyway, to answer your issue...I have a similar problem.. But I've been doing it for about a month now, and the bloat just started today. I am completely sure it's because I lost my wonderful 1 litre water bottle so I haven't been drinking half as much water as I should (or as I normally do). So I say, hang in there, and get a big 1L water bottle and just drink lots and lots. And there is no better feeling than being a vegetarian.
As for the people who keep pestering you, well I have that too, but mostly it's my mom. She thinks I've lost it mentally and she keeps asking me why I don't eat this and what's wrong with milk (how about I don't even like the stuff and I never drank it before anyway!). Hopefully the people close to you actually listen instead of just trying to change you back. They'll see in time, after you've survived a while and you're still perfectly healthy (if not healthier).
