Soy isn't harmful to cats, but you might want to check the ingredient list for onions or garlic. Both, given over time, can cause anemia in cats. Unfortunately for those of us who would prefer to avoid using animal products, cats are obligate carnivores. This means that they can't remain healthy if they don't eat meat. Without meat, they don't get enough of specific proteins, and eventually go blind or develop heart problems. Some people are working to develop diets with supplemental taurine, to try to get around this problem. I'm not sure how much long-term success they've had. I can't remember where I saw the research on this, but if you want to follow up, I think Tufts University's School of Veterinary Medicine probably would be a good place to start. A lot of my vegan friends would love it if this worked out!
