Vegans eat no animal product whatsoever- not even products like gelatin which is made from cow hooves. Some do not even eat honey. Vegetarians do not eat meat, although they may eat eggs and drink milk. If you do not want to give up meat, there are organic foods on the market- pesticide, chemical, (antibiotic) free foods. If you do plan to give up meat, consider textured soy as a meat replacement in some of your meals. There is ground beef, chicken, 'meatballs', etc...Get yourself a good vegetarian cookbook and get acquainted with your local health food store. Many supermarkets offer vegan/vegetarian alternatives-like soy based foods but for some ingredients you'll need that health food store! Tofu is great. When you learn how to use it, it becomes a very versatile tool in meal preparation. Everything from dips to stir fry!Read about it and then experiment with it-you'll find great things to do with it.
