Learn about how food animals are treated then judge for yourself. You may wish to read some good books on the topic - I would recommend any of the following:

"Food Revolution" by John Robbins,
"Mad Cowboy" by Howard Lyman,
"Slaughterhouse" by Gail A Eisnitz,
"Vegan: The New Ethics of Eating" by Erik Marcus.

If you only read one, read "Food Revolution". This should be required reading in all of our schools. Vegetarianism helps not just the animals, but our own personal health and the health of the environment as well.
