Hi, I encountered something similiar. Only, I was too late. I tried to free the small defenseless mouse, but he was too stuck. The home owner came out later, as I saw, and celebrated as if he was some mighty hunter. I think he should tell his daughter how he starved and choked to death, all of 5 hours, Mickey Mouse! It really urks me how people can be so emotionless when it comes to another living thing; no matter how repulsive they may be perceived. I recently found that you can use baby oil or cooking oil and gently work the animal free. They really should be outlawed. Check out the link below.
