Hi all. I just wanted to say that this site excites me so much. I became a vegetarian about 8 or so years ago (I was a freshman in high school). (I tryed to become a vegetarian for the first time in fifth grade, but my parents wouldn't let me.) This is the first time I went out looking for vegetarian info and I'm so excited to hear about the stories of other vegetarians.

My reasons:
1)I lived on a sheep farm and my family killed our sheep and put them in the freezer and cooked them for dinner. I knew the name of the "food" that was on the table.
2)I think it is disgusting to eat something that is a part of an animal...right there next to the veins and the blood running past it, the thought of it makes me sick
3)Animals are mistreated on commercial farms
4)Eating lots of meat results in hunger around the world. (16 lbs of corn are used to obtain 1 lb of beef)
5)I feel healthier without eating meat

There may be more... all I can think of for now

Psychological effects:
I felt guilty all the time before I became vegetarian. Whenever I ate meat, I felt bad about it, knowing I was eating an innocent animal. I remember the last time I ate meat (it was actually tuna fish). I felt guilty and decided that that was it, it was the last time, and it was!

Vegetarianism has definitely impacted my life for the better. It is my whole way of life.

Thanks if you read this, just wanted to share my story!!
