I don't think you see much critisism for eating meat if you don't go out looking for it. Vegetarians are a small minority and the meat-eaters definitely give us more greif than they get from us. Do you know how often I've been critisized for NOT eating meat? I don't think it's that vegetarians try to force their ideals on others as much as they try to be true to themselves. I've often found people I've talked to (that eat meat) trying to defend their ways when THEY started the conversation about vegetarianism. I think people often are amazed that one can be a vegetarian and a lot of people say that they would if they could live without eating meat. Then they have to give more reasons if they start to feel bad about not having the strength to. That's certainly not all people, but I think that's where some of the anger toward vegetarians come from - making you feel bad about yourself.
