I made the switch to vegetarianism about two weeks ago, and am still researching veganism. It was an unexpected change, I was just looking into vegetarian recipes. Meat is so expensive and I thought it would be more economical to start making more vegetarian main dishes. One site led to another, and I ended up on the PETA website, reading about the brutal treatment and slaughter of chickens. After reading through their site and learning about how much these animals suffer, I couldn't stomach the thought of eating meat again.
The more I learn about this lifestyle, the more excited I become. I never realized how beneficial and healthy this lifestyle is. My daughter was recently diagnosed with asthma, and I just read somewhere that veganism helps with that. I've talked to a few people who either practice it or know someone who does, and they talk about how vegans rarely get sick. That really appeals to me since my daughter catches everything that goes around.
The hardest part so far is making foods that appeal to my daughter (she's 5) and trying to stay in budget. Any advice in those areas would be appreciated. Thank you!!!
