Your body should adapt over time to the changes, mine certainly did. Sometimes gradual and slow changes help with this. In the meantime try chewing on fennel seeds after meals, also you might try the brown rice or barley broth. You just use about 5 parts water to 1 part grain, and boil it together for 10 minutes, uncovered. Then cover it and simmer for 45 more minutes. Then strain and cool and sip throughtout the day.

As far as using beano, you are supposed to take it with your first bite.

As for the books, I am sure there are many helpful books. I started with "The Vegan Sourcebook" by Joanne Stepaniak. She has a nutrition section and some great recipes and alot of other information about this lifestyle. There may be other excellent books, but I wouldn't know which ones to recommend since I have not personally read them.
